He begins torturing Bella, but soon Edward arrives, along with his family. They kill James, and save Bella's life. What they failed to realize until later is that Jameswas he mate of one of the unwelcome visitors to Forks, Victoria. Victoria finds out that Edward killed James, and begins to plot her vengence against him; kill Bella.
